I chose a star the day I realized I loved you

love the usage of ‘star.’ I personally feel the line “but I could still…,”When i’m sad the…,’ and “our star will be the first’ should be split into two. The ending ‘it’s our star’ doesn’t grab the reader like your beginning ideas, consider adding to that line…add in some adjectives or other descriptive works after ‘our.’ Great poem, I think with a little edit it could be wonderful!
